Yes — Florida NPs can prescribe Klonopin (clonazepam) in Florida when controlled-substance prescribing is within their education, training, experience, and protocol or qualifying autonomous primary-care authority.1 Florida lists clonazepam, a benzodiazepine, as Schedule IV.2

The NP must also have qualifying graduate education for controlled-substance prescribing and DEA registration. Florida generally requires a PDMP review before prescribing unless a statutory exception applies.4 Because Klonopin is Schedule IV, the Schedule II 7-day cap does not apply.

For patients younger than 18, only a psychiatric nurse may prescribe a psychiatric mental health controlled substance.3 Autonomous registration does not authorize general independent psychiatric-specialty practice.
