Can an NP prescribe Vyvanse in Pennsylvania?
Yes — Pennsylvania CRNPs may prescribe Vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine), a Schedule II controlled substance,4 when the prescription is within the CRNP’s specialty and physician collaborative agreement1 and the CRNP has current Pennsylvania prescriptive authority approval, including at least 45 hours of advanced pharmacology coursework.
For this Schedule II medication, the CRNP’s collaborative agreement must identify Schedule II authority, and the prescription may not exceed a 30-day supply.2 CRNPs authorized to prescribe controlled substances must also maintain DEA registration and follow PA PDMP query requirements when they apply.35
CRNPs may not prescribe Schedule I controlled substances, may not delegate prescriptive authority, and this answer does not resolve Schedule V authority.
