How many charts must a collaborating physician review for a Colorado NP?

In Colorado, the number of charts a collaborating physician must review for a nurse practitioner is not specified in law. Colorado APRNs generally practice independently, so there is no statutory chart-review quota1.

If an NP is in a prescriptive authority mentorship, the Mentorship Agreement must mutually define the process and frequency of ongoing interaction and synchronous communication between the Mentor and APRN, rather than a set chart-count requirement23. Remote, real-time communication is permitted (excluding email), supporting safe prescribing without mandating any chart-review quota4.
