A collaborating physician in Georgia is required to review specific percentages of NP charts to meet the state's minimum standards of medical practice. For most standard nurse protocol agreements, regulations mandate that the physician review and sign 100% of patient records involving controlled substance prescriptions (quarterly) and 100% of records where an adverse outcome occurred (within 30 days of discovery)1.

For all other patient encounters, the physician must review and sign 10% of the records at least annually1.
