How many charts must a collaborating physician review for a Ohio NP?

Ohio does not set a fixed number of charts a collaborating physician must review for a nurse practitioner. Instead, the standard care arrangement must include a quality assurance process that requires periodic random chart review—at least annually—by the collaborating physician1. The arrangement itself must outline a clear process for chart review and related quality assurance elements2.

Annual chart review should include prescribing patterns and Schedule II prescribing when indicated, and provide opportunities for feedback and evaluation of patient care1. Employers should ensure the standard care arrangement documents the chart review process and other quality assurance procedures to maintain compliance2.
