How many charts must a collaborating physician review for a Pennsylvania NP?

In Pennsylvania, there is no fixed number of charts a collaborating physician must review for a CRNP; rather, regular chart and record review is required and the specifics are set by the collaborative agreement12. Physicians review charts, medical records, and protocols in accordance with the terms of that agreement2.

The collaborative agreement must explicitly provide for the physician’s ongoing chart review and related consultation and protocol oversight1. Additionally, for prescriptive authority, the prescriptive authority collaborative agreement must specify how often the collaborating physician will personally see patients to whom the CRNP is prescribing3.
