How many charts must a collaborating physician review for a Texas NP?

In Texas, the number of NP charts a collaborating physician must review is not fixed by law. Instead, the physician and APRN determine the chart-review volume in their prescriptive authority agreement’s quality assurance and improvement plan1.

The prescriptive authority agreement must also set out collaboration processes, including periodic meetings; the physician and APRN must meet at least monthly, and meetings should be documented1. Ensure your agreement clearly specifies chart-review expectations and methods for documenting implementation as part of the required quality assurance and improvement plan1.
