How many nurse practitioners can a physician supervise in Indiana?

A physician can supervise an unlimited number of nurse practitioners in Indiana. Indiana law sets no maximum number of APRNs with whom a physician may enter into practice agreements, and the APRN’s prescriptive authority application must list all collaborating physicians and all APRNs with whom the physician has agreements1.

Even without a numeric cap, practice agreements must specify how the physician and APRN will maintain geographic proximity2 and require physician review of the APRN’s prescribing, including a weekly random sample of at least 5% of charts and medications3.
