How often does a collaborative agreement need to be reviewed in Virginia?

In Virginia, a collaborative practice agreement does not have a state-mandated review interval; the frequency and manner of reviews are determined by the patient care team and specified within the agreement12. The agreement must include provisions for the periodic review of patient charts or electronic records and must be maintained by the APRN and provided to the Boards upon request1.

For APRNs authorized for autonomous practice, no practice agreement is required, so there is no collaborative agreement to review; these APRNs must instead consult and collaborate based on patient needs and maintain referral plans for complex cases and emergencies3.

Virginia statutes do not prescribe meeting schedules, but the practice agreement may also specify site visits and other collaboration logistics at a frequency determined by the patient care team12.
