How often must an NP and collaborating physician meet in Colorado?

Colorado does not mandate a set meeting frequency for an NP and collaborating physician. APRNs practice independently in Colorado1, and during prescriptive authority Mentorship, the written Mentorship Agreement must specify the process and frequency for ongoing interaction and discussion of prescribing, including synchronous communication23.

“Synchronous communication” is defined as real-time, secure communication (e.g., audio, web, or video conferencing) and expressly excludes email34. Remote synchronous communication with the mentor is permitted during the Mentorship, so the parties may meet virtually as outlined in their agreement5.
