How often must an NP and collaborating physician meet in Michigan?

In Michigan, there is no specific requirement for how often an NP and a collaborating physician must meet. Michigan does not set a meeting frequency for physicians and APRNs with written authorizations in place. However, supervision is defined to require continuous availability of direct communication and the supervising physician’s availability on a regularly scheduled basis to review practice, provide consultation, and review records1.

Additionally, when a physician has delegated controlled-substance prescribing to an APRN, the delegating physician must review and update the written authorization at least annually, and note each review date on the authorization2.
