In Texas, an NP and collaborating physician must meet at least once a month. A collaborating physician and APRN are required to hold meetings at least monthly, in a manner they determine, and each meeting should be documented1.

These meetings should address key clinical coordination topics, including1:

  • Sharing information related to patient treatment and care1
  • Needed changes in patient care plans1
  • Issues relating to referrals1

Additionally, the prescriptive authority agreement must include a quality assurance and improvement plan that specifies documentation methods, including chart review and periodic meetings1.
