What are the requirements for terminating a collaborative agreement in South Carolina?

Terminating a collaborative (practice) agreement in South Carolina requires the APRN to notify the Board within fifteen (15) business days when discontinuing practice1. If the APRN changes practice settings or the supervising physician, the APRN must notify the Board within fifteen (15) business days and provide verification of the practice agreement1.

South Carolina law refers to this relationship as a practice agreement and uses the terms “work with” and “support” rather than “supervise” or “collaborate,” allowing clinicians to choose their preferred descriptive language within the agreement2.

For ongoing compliance, keep the practice agreement reviewed at least annually, and available to the Board within 72 hours upon request; the Board conducts random audits at least biennially3.
