What is a collaborative practice agreement called in Ohio?

In Ohio, a collaborative practice agreement is called a standard care arrangement1. APRNs may practice only in accordance with a standard care arrangement with each collaborating physician, and the Board of Nursing may periodically review these arrangements for compliance12.

A copy of the standard care arrangement must be kept on file by the APRN’s employer13. Ohio law and Board rules also specify required contents—such as participant information, scope of services and prescriptive practice, plans for technology, and robust quality assurance provisions—plus prescribing parameters and OARRS use45. Quality assurance must include, at minimum, periodic random chart review (including prescribing patterns) and opportunities to discuss feedback and evaluate patient care6.
