
There are no proximity or in-person requirements between an NP and the collaborating physician in Texas. A physician does not need to be physically present at all times for supervision to be considered adequate1.
However, the prescriptive authority agreement must require the physician and APRN to meet at least monthly—in a manner determined by the parties—to discuss patient care and related issues, and each meeting should be documented2. The agreement must also outline how the physician and APRN will communicate and share information, but the statute does not mandate that these meetings be in person2.
