In Florida, a collaborative practice agreement is called a supervisory protocol between the APRN and a physician1. Florida law authorizes APRN diagnosis, treatment, and prescribing within the framework of an established supervisory protocol1, and APRNs may prescribe or dispense medications pursuant to that protocol2.
The supervisory protocol must be maintained on-site at each location where the APRN practices2. Additionally, physicians must notify the Board of Medicine within 30 days when entering into or terminating any supervisory protocol with APRNs3.
