Biography
Dr. Whitehead began his higher education at Chipola College where he was a founding member of the Chipola PreMed Society and the groundbreaking ACE lab. He would go on to graduate from the Florida State University with Honors, majoring in Classics and a minor in Chemistry. While at FSU Dr. Whitehead defended his thesis of the history of malaria in the ancient world as part of FSU’s Honors in the Major program.
He was early accepted into the Florida State University College of Medicine where he received his medical degree. Dr. Whitehead was involved with the Family Medicine Scholars Program as well as the Rural Medicine Interest Group.
After graduation from the College of Medicine, Dr. Whitehead completed his residency in Family Medicine with the TMH Family Medicine Residency Program where he served as Chief Resident. During this time he also become the only resident in the country to complete his senior year of residency while simultaneously completing an HIV Specialist fellowship program.
In his role as medical director for a local HIV and primary care healthcare center, he cares for individuals living with HIV in the Florida Panhandle, South Alabama, and Mississippi Gulf Coast. He also serves as the principal investigator in ongoing clinical trials in the North Florida region. He is a clerkship faculty member for the Florida State University College of Medicine.
