Currently serving as the Behavioral Health Equity Medical Director at Evernorth a division of the Cigna Group, I lead strategic initiatives to infuse health equity into clinical programs and drive personalized, inclusive services. As a seasoned leader, I have spearheaded process improvement initiatives, developed evidence-based protocols, and supervised multidisciplinary teams. I am a board-certified OB/GYN with over a decade of clinical experience and a background in men's health. In addition to my active medical practice, I serve as a medical director and collaborating physician for multiple clinics, where I oversee compliance, protocols, and patient safety. I am licensed in multiple states, which allows me to support practices remotely as a collaborating physician. My focus is on providing accessible, reliable oversight that helps practices grow while maintaining the highest standards of care.

As a physician, I am passionate about supporting high-quality, team-based care. Serving as a collaborating physician for nurse practitioners or physician assistants allows me to help ensure clinical excellence, provide guidance when needed, and foster professional growth. I value the expanded access to care that NP/PA-led services offer and I’m committed to maintaining high standards of evidence-based medicine while promoting autonomy and confidence in advanced practice providers.

I have over two years of nurse practitioner supervision in California and enjoy guiding others in building their career in medicine. I attended medical school at Texas A&M College of Medicine and residency at University of Texas Austin. I have over 4 years of practice experience in Texas and 8 years of practice experience in California. I started my career in an academic professorship, before changing directions to be the acute care medical director at the 6th largest correctional facility in the US. I now have a boutique ADHD private practice. I am currently pursuing my board certification in Obesity Medicine.

Dr. Janette Leal graduated from a combined internal medicine and psychiatry residency program at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. She went on to specialize in geriatric Psychiatry at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. There, she worked in inpatient and outpatient psychiatry with a variety of diagnoses and cared for severely ill patients. She developed an interest in holistic psychiatry and psychedelic therapy and has enjoyed collaborating with PAs and NPs practicing psychiatry.

I am a board certified Family Medicine physician with 7.5 years post residency experience as an adult hospitalist. While I continue to work as a hospitalist, I have begun to work in the telemedicine/telehealth space including NP/PA collaborations. Currently I am working towards menopause and weight loss certifications to better serve the needs of patients.
